Cyclist gives a hand signal
The blinker in a car, the hand signal for cyclists. Recognizing in which direction a road user wants to continue their journey is an important part of road safety. Other road users should be able to recognize the direction in which the journey is to be continued well before the actual turning manoeuvre. In our fictitious example, this applies to the driver of the small white car. However, hand signals are also important for road safety for other people coming towards you or driving behind you.
